Racism. The Facts

Racism is a topic that deserves our attention. Instead of turning a blind eye, it should be addressed, discussed and talked about. But what does it actually mean? What are we talking about exaclty? What are the facts about racism?

In this interactive programme we analyse different forms of racism afterwhich each student gets to write their own poem/spoken word about the subject. The programme consists of two parts: a performance and a class assignment.

"I'm not racist. I have a black friend."

After a short introduction and the presentation of an existing spoken word, we will explore different forms of racism through script, monologue, role play and open discussion, to identify personal experiences and facts regarding each form. The presenter will then open the floor for additional questions and suggestions. An original spoken word will be presented to conclude the performance.

As an assignment, each student will be equipped with knowledge on how to write their own spoken word about a specific form of racism, will get feedback from our coach and will get the chance to perform their own original piece for the rest of the class.

"There are two sides to every story. I wish I knew yours..."
